CNN host Abby Phillip called out RFK Jr. for copying Michelle Obama’s old health idea. She pointed out that many right-wing voices made fun of Michelle Obama when she first pushed the same message years ago.
On her show, Phillip played a clip of a workout video where Kennedy and MAGA singer Kid Rock are shirtless, doing odd exercises, jumping into ice baths, and drinking whole milk in a hot tub. Kennedy kept his jeans on the whole time.
Kennedy shared the video on X and wrote, “I’ve teamed up with Kid Rock to deliver two simple messages to the American people: get active and eat real food.”
Phillip said this might sound familiar because Michelle Obama said almost the same thing back in 2010 on her “Let’s Move!” website. Her initiative told kids to get active and eat healthy. Many Republicans didn’t like it back then.
Phillip then played old clips of conservative figures mocking Michelle Obama.
Tucker Carlson joked, “Why raise your own kids when Michelle Obama will do it for you? She’ll even do it at gunpoint.”
Glenn Beck said, “Get your hands off my fries. If I want to eat fries all day and be a fat fatty, that’s my choice.”
Former Iowa Rep. Steve King complained that he didn’t want a “nanny state” telling him how to take care of his own body.
Phillip asked one of her guests, Xochitl Hinojosa, if conservatives would ever admit they were wrong.
“No way,” Hinojosa said. She explained that Michelle Obama focused on families and kids and wanted people to stay active and eat better. The RFK video felt more like a vanity stunt, not a real health message.
She added that it didn’t seem aimed at kids or healthy living at all. She joked it looked like it was meant for Olivia Nuzzi.
Nuzzi, a former reporter, was fired from two major outlets after details came out about her private relationship with RFK Jr. during his 2024 campaign.
