Trump Jokes About Growing His Nails Like Nicki Minaj During D.C. Event: “I Love Those Nails”

President Donald Trump joked that he plans to grow out his nails to match rapper Nicki Minaj as the two spent the day together in Washington, D.C., drawing laughs and headlines during a Treasury Department summit.

“I said I am going to let my nails grow because I love those nails,” Trump, 79, told the audience as he invited Minaj, 43, on stage at the Trump Accounts Summit on Wednesday, January 28. “I am going to let those nails grow.”

Trump praised Minaj for her political loyalty, calling her “MAGA” and telling attendees she has “been with us all the way.” The rapper, who has openly supported Trump, returned the favor during her remarks, calling herself his “No. 1 fan.”

“I am probably the president’s number one fan, and that’s not going to change,” Minaj said. She added that criticism only strengthens her support for Trump. “The hate doesn’t affect me at all. It actually motivates me more.”

Minaj also endorsed Trump’s newly announced investment program known as Trump Accounts, a financial initiative aimed at U.S.-born children. According to CNBC, she plans to contribute between $150,000 and $300,000 to the program.

Trump Accounts were introduced as part of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act and are set to be available to every U.S. citizen born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028. Each account will begin with a one-time $1,000 government contribution and can receive up to $5,000 per year, invested in a broad stock market index.

The White House says account holders will gain control of the funds at age 18, claiming the investments could grow to as much as $1.9 million by age 28 if left untouched.

Minaj promoted the initiative on X ahead of the event, calling it “the true meaning of paying it forward” and praising the focus on early financial literacy for children.

Funding for the program includes donations from prominent Trump supporters, including Dell Technologies founder Michael Dell and his wife, Susan Dell, who pledged more than $6 billion in December 2025. Trump previously called their contribution “one of the most generous acts in the history of our country.”

The moment between Trump and Minaj quickly went viral, blending celebrity culture with politics as the administration continues to promote its economic agenda ahead of the 2026 midterm cycle.
