US President Donald Trump used Christmas Eve to deliver a holiday message that mixed seasonal greetings with a blunt political attack on his Democratic opponents.
Posting from his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, Trump spent part of the day taking part in the traditional NORAD Santa Tracker calls and sending warm wishes to US troops stationed around the world. The tone shifted, however, when the conversation turned to domestic politics.
In a message shared on his Truth Social platform, Trump extended Christmas wishes to Americans while accusing Democrats of working against the country. He claimed that their efforts were failing and portrayed his administration as having reversed policies he says voters rejected.
Trump pointed to what he described as major achievements under his leadership, including tighter border controls, stronger law enforcement, and improved economic conditions. He highlighted a surging stock market, strong retirement account performance, low crime levels, and a third-quarter GDP growth rate of 4.3 percent, which he said exceeded expectations.
The comments came as Democrats continued to criticize the administration over rising living costs. While recent Commerce Department data showed the economy growing at its fastest pace in two years, the same report also revealed that inflation tied to domestic purchases climbed to 3.4 percent in the third quarter, up sharply from the previous quarter.
Political tensions were already high in the days leading up to Christmas. Democrats had questioned the Justice Department’s handling of records related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, citing delays and heavy redactions in the release of investigation files. Epstein had previously been known to associate with Trump, a fact that resurfaced during the debate.
Despite the political sparring, Trump also used the holiday to acknowledge US military personnel overseas. His greetings included troops involved in a significant US naval presence in the Caribbean, part of Washington’s broader effort to increase pressure on Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.
The Christmas Eve remarks underscored how, even during a traditionally unifying holiday, sharp partisan divisions continue to shape America’s political landscape.
