Who Got Promoted?

Steven Cheung: Trump's campaign spokesman will now serve as the White House Communications Director. Cheung will also act as an assistant to the president.

Karoline Leavitt: Previously the campaign's national press secretary, she will take on the role of White House Press Secretary.

These two roles are separate, but in the past, some individuals have handled both at the same time.

Steven Cheung’s Background

Cheung has been a strong defender of Trump, mostly working behind the scenes. He uses social media to actively support Trump and has a history of handling high-profile situations, such as controversies during the campaign.

Cheung has also worked in Trump’s first term as Director of Strategic Response and has experience as a spokesman for the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship). Trump has strong ties to the UFC, often attending fights with his friend Dana White, the UFC President.

This position has seen many changes in Trump’s past administration, with six people holding the job under seven different terms. Some, like Anthony Scaramucci, only lasted a few days.

Karoline Leavitt’s Journey

Leavitt, no stranger to Trump’s administration, previously served as an assistant press secretary during his first term. Recently, she has been busy managing the transition team and announcing Trump's new staff and Cabinet choices.

Leavitt also has political experience outside of the White House. After the 2020 election, she worked for Representative Elise Stefanik and even ran for Congress in 2022, though she did not win.

Leavitt expressed her gratitude to Trump in a post on X, saying:

"Thank you, President Trump, for believing in me. I am humbled and honored. Let’s MAGA!"

Trump praised Leavitt, calling her a "smart, tough, and effective communicator" and expressed confidence in her ability to connect with the American people.

Other Key Appointments

Trump also named Sergio Gor as Assistant to the President and Director of Presidential Personnel. Gor has been a close ally of Trump since 2016 and played a significant role in his campaign and first term.

In a statement, Trump highlighted the contributions of Cheung and Gor, saying they have been trusted advisors who uphold America First principles.

Looking Ahead

With these appointments, Trump has put experienced and loyal supporters in charge of his administration's communication efforts. Both Cheung and Leavitt bring a mix of experience and dedication to their new roles as Trump prepares to take office again.
