Bernie Sanders Issues Dire Warning About Trump’s Election Plans—Will He Declare Victory Early?
Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) has issued a chilling warning about Donald Trump’s potential actions following the 2024 election. He believes that once polls close on Election Day, Trump is almost certain to declare an early victory, regardless of the actual results.During a Tuesday appearance on CNN’s The Source, Sanders spoke with anchor Kaitlan Collins about the dangerous possibility of Trump falsely proclaiming himself the winner of the presidential race. When asked what might happen if Trump does make such a claim, Sanders didn’t hesitate, saying, “It’s not a ‘what if,’ Kaitlan. It is not a ‘what if.’ He will.”
Sanders further predicted that Trump would rush to announce a victory, reinforcing his message that the only way he could lose is through voter fraud. “That is exactly what will happen,” the Vermont senator continued. “This is how you undermine democracy: by claiming the only way you can lose is if there’s fraud. Well, that means you can never lose a legitimate election.”
The senator emphasized the need for the public to be prepared for this scenario, noting that many of Trump’s supporters are already convinced that voter fraud will be the only reason he doesn’t win.
As Election Day approaches, Trump has refused to commit to conceding if he loses. He has also continued to claim, without evidence, that his 2020 race against President Joe Biden was rigged. Despite overwhelming proof that there was no widespread election fraud, Trump persists in spreading these unsubstantiated claims.
In a statement made while casting his ballot in Palm Beach, Florida, Trump told reporters, “If I lose an election, if it’s a fair election, I’m gonna be the first one to acknowledge it.” However, shortly after, he took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to allege “massive cheating” occurring in Philadelphia, sowing further doubt about the election process.
As Sanders warns, this ongoing rhetoric could have serious consequences for the integrity of the election and the broader democratic process.
