Kamala Harris Criticizes Trump and Highlights Differences with Biden in Fox News Interview
Vice President Kamala Harris called former President Donald Trump "unstable and dangerous" during a challenging interview on Fox News. She accused him of being a threat to U.S. democracy, saying he is unfit for a second term. The interview was notable because Fox News is known for being critical of her and supportive of Trump. Throughout the conversation, there were tense moments, with Harris and Fox News host Bret Baier often talking over each other.
Vice President Harris says Trump is "unfit to serve."
Harris referred to Trump's recent comments about using the military against political opponents and his mention of "enemies from within." She said, "It's clear to me that Trump is unfit to serve, unstable, and dangerous." Harris emphasized that in a democracy, the President should be able to handle criticism without threatening to lock people up for disagreeing with him.
Harris Stresses Differences Between Her and Biden
Harris also took the opportunity to explain how her presidency would differ from President Joe Biden's, addressing criticisms that she would simply continue Biden's policies. She clarified, "My presidency will not be a continuation of Joe Biden's. Like every new leader, I will bring my experiences, fresh ideas, and new solutions."
She specifically mentioned her plans to help first-time homebuyers and support small businesses, adding that her administration would mark a shift away from the divisive rhetoric of the Trump era. "For the last decade, Trump's words have divided Americans, and my leadership would aim to unite the country," she said.
Discussion on Immigration
During the interview, Baier asked Harris about high levels of border crossings, which have been a major issue for the Biden administration. Harris did not provide specific numbers on undocumented immigrants released into the U.S., but she criticized Trump for blocking a bipartisan plan that could have improved border security. She acknowledged the tragedy of families losing loved ones to violent crimes committed by some who crossed the border illegally, saying, "I can't imagine the pain of those families. These are losses that shouldn't have happened."
She added, "If the border security plan had been passed nine months ago, we would already have more agents on the border, and better support to prevent future harm."
