Kamala Harris Agrees with Charlamagne: Trump’s Vision for America Is “Fascism”

Vice President Kamala Harris is no longer holding back when it comes to former President Donald Trump. After calling Trump “unstable and unhinged” earlier in the week, Harris further escalated her criticism by labeling his vision for America as “fascism” during an interview with radio host Charlamagne Tha God in Detroit.

Harris’s comments mark a new level of bluntness, reflecting her growing concern over Trump’s authoritarian behavior. During the interview on Tuesday, Charlamagne directly compared Trump’s vision to fascism, prompting Harris to agree. “Yes, we can say that,” she confirmed, further emphasizing the dangers she sees in Trump’s approach.

The vice president didn’t mince words as she continued to outline her views. She accused Trump of pandering to foreign dictators, notably Russian President Vladimir Putin. “The man is really quite weak. He’s weak,” Harris said. “It’s a sign of weakness that you want to please dictators.”

Harris’s remarks come at a time when Trump is facing scrutiny over his interactions with foreign autocrats and his increasingly aggressive stance against political opponents. Over the past week, Trump has referred to his critics as “dangerous” and “evil,” even hinting that the military or National Guard might be needed to “handle” them if he wins the upcoming election. Additionally, he has repeatedly dodged questions about whether he would commit to a peaceful transfer of power if he loses, further fueling concerns about his intentions.

In the same interview, Trump avoided answering whether he has communicated with Putin privately since leaving office, though he added it would have been “smart” if he had. According to Bob Woodward’s new book, Trump has maintained contact with Putin multiple times since his presidency ended, and even sent him COVID-19 tests for personal use while still in office. The book also quotes former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Mark Milley, who described Trump as “a fascist to the core” and “the most dangerous person to this country.”

Trump has not shied away from using similar rhetoric against his opponents. He has repeatedly accused Harris and the Democrats of being “fascists,” a term that resonates with his base despite not fitting its true definition. In fact, he openly stated that he would act like a dictator on “day one” if re-elected, according to his own admission.

On Wednesday, Trump’s campaign quickly responded to Harris’s comments, calling them “disgusting” and accusing her rhetoric of inciting violence, referencing alleged assassination attempts against Trump. Yet, Trump himself continued with divisive language, labeling Democrats as “Marxists, communists, and fascists” during a Fox town hall, where he also hinted that such groups could be “handled” under “a smart president.”

Harris’s interview with Charlamagne represents a clear attempt to highlight the stakes she sees in the upcoming election. Her accusations against Trump point to a broader concern within the Democratic Party about the potential consequences of a second Trump term, especially as he continues to blur the lines between political rhetoric and actions that could threaten the nation’s democratic institutions.
